One Arrest In Tikaram Carjack

A suspect has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a carjacking incident at Tikaram Place, Namadi Heights, on Thursday.
The alleged incident was filmed by a witness who posted the video footage on social media. This is the second time where a similar incident has been captured on video and gone viral over social media.
Last week in Kashmir, Lautoka, at least eight men were captured on CCTV camera. The footage later went viral on social media.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said: “The Tikaram suspect was arrested on Thursday and is currently in our custody as the hunt for his other two accomplices continues.”
It is alleged three men had hired a taxi from Suva City and told the taxi driver to take them to Tikaram Place at Namadi Heights. As they reached Tikaram Place, they allegedly threatened the taxi driver and attempted to take over the vehicle. Since the taxi driver fought back to retain possession of his taxi, the three men robbed him.
Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho said: “Those responsible for these cowardly acts will be apprehended.
“Officers are working hard to ensure all those involved are arrested.”
