Special Night For Tacirua Rugby

The Tacirua Rugby Club, for the first time, held its award night yesterday.
The team also participated for the first time in the Nasinu Rugby Union club final which was played after 12 years last weekend. The team lost to Uluinakau 17-7.
Team manager Akuila Rokobuli said the night was a special one not only for the players but the community as a whole.
“This night is to thanks the players for what they have done for the community through rugby,” Rokobuli said.
“We started playing in Nasinu in the 1960s and moved to Suva in 1996 and returned to Nasinu this year. “I think most of the people in Suva and the Nasinu corridor knows the performance of the players who were brought up in Tacirua,
“They maybe small in stature but they never step back or give an inch.
“I would like to thank the Lord for the opportunity. This has been a milestone for us and a major achievement for our players and the community.
“We are really proud of what they have achieved because most of our players are young and what we have achieved last week, we are grateful for the opportunity to showcase our talent.”
Tacirua is a testament that sports bring a community together as the area is known for its high crime rate.
“Rugby brought us all together and lessened the crime rate in our area because the boys are taught discipline and values through rugby.”
