Aloisio Bera aims to play rugby overseas after he was named as the best player at the Tacirua Rugby Awards Night on Friday.

The 21-year-old has been playing for Tacirua since he was 18 and the award has encouraged him to aim higher.

“I actually didn’t expect this award,” Bera said.

“This is my first time to experience something like this and I want to thank the Lord for giving me this opportunity.

“Receiving this award has only made me realise that I want to go further and not limit myself to only playing for Tacirua.

“I’ve been playing rugby since primary school and I know I’ve  grown as a player and I want to see how far I can reach in my rugby career and after receiving the award, I’ve the courage to keep on stepping up.”

Bera has gained a lot of confidence as rugby has taught him a lot growing up in a community where crime is prevalent.

“I’m really excited, playing for this team has given me a sense of confidence and I’m looking forward to next year,” he said.

“I want to stay with Tacirua and see what God has in store for me because being in this team has taught me discipline.

“So I would like to thank the management, the coach and the players for everything they have done.”
