Tomasi Sovilevu scored a hat-trick on his debut for BLK Nadroga during the HFC Bank Farebrother Challenge 2016 at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka yesterday.

The defending champions scored a 40-25 victory in the last challenge over Warwick Navosa.

The Semo native, cousin of Wales-based speedster Aisea Natoga, received his early birthday gift and was also named man of the match. He turns 24 on October 24.

“I am really happy to be given the award in my first Farebrother and thanks to Nemani Nagusa and Eremasi Radrodro who made it possible as they are with Telecom Fijian Warriors,” he said.

“I dedicate this award to my family especially to my Mum and dad who now realise why I do reach home late at night.

“It was not an easy road but the team and the depth of the Nadroga team assisted me after all.

What Happened: The Sekonaia Kalou- captained side retained the silverware for another season.

Navosa took an early lead in the 2nd minute through fullback Waqa Robanakadavu’s try which was converted by Amenoni Nasilasila, 7-0.

In the fourth minute Tomasi Sovilevu scored his first try which was converted by center Aporosa Waqatabu, 7-7.

10 minutes later winger Aisea Natoga broke the defence to score and converted by Waqatabu.

Nadroga was penalised and Nasilasila was on target with a penalty 14-10.

Winger Etuate Naikaci extended the lead for the Stallions with a try, 19-10

In the 32nd minute prop Timoci Sauvoli scored which was converted by Waqatabu.

Halftime: Nadroga 26- Navosa 10.

Sovilevu scored his second try which was converted by Waqatabu.

Nine minutes later Navosa center Jone Qoro scored in the corner, 33-15.

Four minutes later Sovilevu scored his third try and was converted by Waqatabu 40 -15.

Navosa flanker Asesela Ravuvu scored and was converted by Nasilasila who also kicked a penalty.

Star Turn: Tomasi Sovilevu proved himself on debut.

Big Play: Navosa’s Amenoni Nasilasila played well.

 

Comments:

Nadroga captain Sekonaia Kalou: “It is all over now as we reach another new level for Nadroga. We camped for 25 weeks and it has paid off and thanks to the patron, board, families HFC Bank and Fiji Rugby Union.

“The win is for the supporters, families and church groups.”

Navosa captain Luke Navuwai said, “We started well but the continuity was not there due to our smaller pack.

“We thank our major sponsor Warwick Resort our supporters and families.”
