What happened:

Joseph Mishra headed the winning goal as Rewa beat Labasa 1-0 in the Vodafone Premier League match at Ratu Cakobau Park yesterday.

Despite down by one man, the Delta Tigers put on a gutsy performance in the second half.

Rewa striker Misaele Dranibaka was red carded in the first half for foul play.

Rewa maintained the momentum in their attack with Olympian Tevita Waranaivalu leading the charge putting Labasa under pressure.

Labasa got off to a strong start in the opening 45 minutes but the Rewa defenders stood their ground.

Big Play: Rewa strong in defence.

Star Turn: y Rewa regrouping well after being 10 men down.

Comments:  Rewa head coach Marika Rodu:  “Securing three points was important it also gives us good preparation for the Courts Inter-District Championship. Our plan was to slow Labasa’s momentum in the first half.”

Labasa football president Rayaz Khan:

“I’m happy with the performance and we are looking forward to the Courts IDC.”
