A 60-year-old man appeared at the Nasinu Magistrates Court yesterday charged with rape.
The matter was called before Magistrate Charles Ratakele, who has transferred the case to the High Court in Suva.
It is alleged that sometime in August, in the Central Division, the 60-year-old, with another, had carnal knowledge with a 14-year-old girl.
The charge was read to the accused in the iTaukei language, which he understood.
The accused has chosen to be represented by the Legal Aid Commission and then he could apply for bail at the High Court.
The state was represented by Constable Miliana Vocea.
The case has been adjourned to October 14.
