The golfer who lands a hole-in-one (eagle) on a par three 13th hole at the Natadola Bay Championship Course wins a block of land.

This was confirmed by Natadola Bay Resort Limited (NBRL) director Tom Ricketts during the Fijian International cocktail at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva yesterday.

NBRL is fully owned by the Fiji National Provident Fund.

“A block of land will be the prize for the hole-in-a-one at the 13th ,”Ricketts said.

“The land is part of the sub division of the Natadola Beach Land Estate which belongs to the FNPF.”

PGA Australia chief executive officer Brian Thorburn was delighted.

“This is a great initiative,”he said.

“This year’s tournament will be exciting, stronger field as we have Brandt Snedeker, Robert Allenby, Jarrod Lyle, Steven Jeffress. We are praying for a good weather conditions this year.”

The Minister for Industry, Trade, Tourism, Lands and Mineral Resources Faiyaz Siddiq Koya is predicting an exciting tournament.

“This year we have raised the profile, of Fiji International to another level, with new co-sanctioning relationships between PGA Tour of Australasia and the European Tour,” Koya said.

“All the top golfers will be competing for AUS$1.5m which is an increase of the 30 per cent of the prize money which was up for grabs last year.

“Fiji International continues to grow and build its strength and certainly a sporting event our country should be proud of.”

The 2016 Fiji International tees off on Thursday with the final round on Sunday.
