The winners of the Vanua Levu Muslim Inter District Championship are determined defend their titles next year. Batinikama scooped the Super Premier Division title while Wailevu took out the Premier Division.

Batinikama coach Kamendra Naidu told SUNsports that this was a monumental achievement for the team.

“Just like the teachings of Ben Ryan, our team focused on dedication and discipline in order to scoop the top title in the tournament,” Naidu said.

“I would like to thank the director of Bobby’s Welding Works, Yunus Ali for the great support in forking out $2500 worth of canvas and gifts for the players. As the coach, I am waiting for the outcome of the team’s annual general meeting in two weeks time and if they reappoint me I will map out a plan for next year’s title defence.”

The Wailevu Muslim Sports Team vice-president Shaheed Dean said they were proud of their team’s performance.

“We were runners-up last year in this category and we managed to take home the title this year. We will work hard as a team and promise to come out stronger next year,” Dean said.

A total of 12 teams in each division took part in the 10-day event.
