Rodu: We Can’t Afford To Lose

Rewa football coach, Marika Rodu will settle for either a win or a draw against Ba in their opening pool clash in today’s Courts Inter District Championship (IDC) at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.

Rodu said yesterday they are ready for their first match and would be looking to gain points from it.

“We are ready for the game and the players are feeling confident after our preparation phase,” he said.

“It is important to get a win on the first day and build-up our momentum. For us we will be working on avoiding a loss in the opening round. Whether it is one point from a draw or three points from a win, we will be happy with that but one thing we do not want to lose.

“That will obviously be a difficult thing to do when other teams are aiming to win as well so we will see how things go. Our win against Labasa in the Vodafone Premier League gave us confidence and we want to continue winning games.”

The Delta Tigers will be playing without Peniame Drova, Simione Maikali, Setareki Vola and Misaele Draunibaka due to red cards and injuries from their clash against Labasa, last Sunday.

“We will be missing these four players but we have other players who have filled in the gaps for them.

“Even though we will be missing four of our initial players, we are still a formidable side and we will be taking each game like a final starting from tomorrow.” Rewa take on Ba at 3pm.
