The Propeller Shaft Services Labasa were the only team that recorded a win on the first day of the 2016 Courts Inter District Championship at the ANZ Stadium, Suva last night.

The Finance Pacific backed Suva side started strongly with Sakaraia Naisua scoring the fastest goal of the tournament, within the opening minute. Trailing 1-0, the Northerners took time to settle down and in the 15th minute a powerful drive from defender Remeru Tekiata saw Labasa equalise. They never looked back and midway into the second spell, they went further ahead 2-1 through a perfect strike from Apenisa Anare.

A jubilant Labasa coach Ronil Lal told SUNsports they are going to take one game at a time.

“We are confident of winning the IDC but we are looking forward to our next two pool games,” he added.
