The Fiji Electricity Authority continues with its efforts to provide better services in particular to its rural customers.

As part of this efforts, FEA has partnered with Digicel Fiji to allow rural customers to purchase FEA prepay electricity tokens through Digicel Mobile Money.

FEA already has an arrangement with Vodafone Fiji using its M-PAiSA platform.

The FEA Prepay Service is available to customers in the rural remote areas of Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Ovalau and will be introduced to all the domestic customers in Taveuni.

FEA’s total customer accounts is 173,374 which includes 23,839 prepay customer accounts.

There are 21,338 prepay customers in Viti Levu, 561 customers in Vanua Levu and 1,940 customers in Ovalau as of date.

FEA Prepay tokens are available via the FEA vending machines and now they will also be available via the GSM mobile network providers.

FEA acting chief executive, Bobby Naimawi, said: “There are benefits for prepaid electricity, including savings on meter readings, improved technical performance.

“There is also better consumption control by customers because they get certainty around what to use and how to use.”

“Prepay electricity is the ideal billing solution for FEA prepay customers in the rural remote areas.

“When customers run out of cash power credit, they can easily top-up their FEA prepay meters using Digicel Mobile Money.”
