The young Nadogo football team collected four points from their two games at the Courts Inter District Championship’s Senior Division competition yesterday.

In their pool opener the Solomone Catarogo-coached side beat Seaqaqa 2-1 with goals from Navitalai Baleilakeba.

Nadogo Football president Kamal Reddy said he was proud of the performance of his young players.

“We’ve got 17, 18, 19 year old players with the oldest being 25,” he said.

“Even our Fiji Under-20 striker Francis Catarogo got offers from districts like Ba and Labasa but still he prefers to play for his district. I really salute the loyalty of such young players.”

Reddy said he was not happy with the way the referee controlled their match against Bua which ended in a nil-all draw.

“We spent a lot of money to come over and then such bad decision is really unfair,” he added.

From the four points they have, Reddy says, they are going to take each game as they come as their focus is to make it to the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, Bua football manager Ashneel Vinay Chand said they are confident of reaching the final.

“I’m happy of our draw against Nadogo because it was our first pool game and then we should do well in the next pools games,” he said. Bua won the Vodafone Premier League’s Northern Zone play-offs.
