Kevin Naiqama will lead the Vodafone Fijian Bati side in the one-off test against Toa Samoa tomorrow at Apia Park.

Fiji National Rugby League chief executive officer Timoci Naleba confirmed this yesterday.

“Naiqama has been given the leadership role and will be assisted by Korbin Sims,” Naleba said.

“We also have players who were part of the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, Kane Evans, James Storer and Eloni Vunakece who have been motivating our young local players.”

Local boy Pio Seci is likely to make his debut appearance.

“Seci is blending in well with overseas based players and they are also helping him to get in top shape.

“He’s always ready to learn and adapt to new training environment,” Naleba said.

“Head coach Michael Potter is really impressed with his work rate during training, Seci is likely to be named in the starting line-up, Potter is currently trying him out in a few positions.”

Cronulla Sharks second row Junior Roqica and Melbourne Storm Under-20 member Ben Kubu have teamed up.

“Potter is impressed since he will be able to implement all the strategies he has been planning to do.

“The players are happy and we understand pressure is on the Toa Samoa team to win. We have a young and strong side,” he added.

Samoa and Fiji last clashed two years ago, with the Toa prevailing 32-16. The game will kick off at 2:30pm (FJ Time).
