Today we bid Farwell to the late Roko Tui Bau, Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi.
The tributes that have been flowing to him demonstrated that he was a widely respected chief, leader, lawyer and judge.
He was the voice of reason during some of the darkest times of our history.
He has left a legacy that we can draw strength from, especially in moving the country forward. He was an advocate of human rights, common identity and national unity.
Today, the country is making big progress in these areas.
His lifetime of service to this nation will always be treasured.
