Hello fellow car enthusiasts. We have now confirmed the Pacific Energy Shell Lubricants Drag Race for October 16 which is next Sunday.

We had to shift the October 30 race because we have the festival of lights, Diwali, being celebrated by our Hindu brothers and sisters.

We will again have free entry for spectators and $25 entry fees for participants. Also race entry for ladies will be free.

Not only this, but if you become a member on that day, your participation entry will be free. This is only exclusive for people who will pay membership on the day of the race.

Now we are coming really close to finishing off the season and we want to finish the season in style. This will be the third last race event for the year.

As promised to all our members and general public, we will do at least eight events this year. We are working very hard to achieve this.

I was very happy with the response of spectators in the last event whereby we had over 700 spectators attending. I hope the Fiji Car Club gets the same support in the remaining events this year.

I was very happy to see spectators coming with their whole family and having a picnic while enjoying the racing.

Entry rules

I would like to remind all the race car drivers again to please be on time. We will close the race entries at 11.30am sharp.

We will not entertain any late entries. So please don’t be disappointed if you come late and we turn you away.

You need to be in the arena by latest 11am for your car to be scrutinised and the forms to be filled. This will take half an hour.

Driving down to Pacific Harbour on Sunday – a humble request to all coming either to race or watch, please maintain your speed limit and obey the road rules all the time.

It’s better to be leave early than rush. Few incidents have happened during previous races and one on the past race. So come down and enjoy yourself on Sunday but safely.

Dial in times

Again I would like to remind race car drivers to please dial in your correct time as people have not been winning because their dial in time is less than their recorded time.

We have seen three competitors went over their dial in time and they were disqualified from the category. But your personal best will still be counted in the overall timing.

Sponsorship and support

I thank Pacific Energy once again for sponsoring this event. This sponsorship is very much appreciated by the entire Fiji Car Club.

Also a big thanks to the hardworking executives who sacrifice their time and energy to be present at the race to ensure things run smoothly.
