Propeller Shaft Services Labasa were the first team through to the semifinals of the Courts Inter District Championship  (IDC) after their 1-1 draw with Nadroga at the ANZ Stadium yesterday.

Labasa led 1-0 in the second half with a free kick from Edwin Sahayam while Nadroga managed to equalise with a penalty kick from Jeshal Kumar.

What happened?

Both teams got off to a slow start  with Labasa’s defence standing tall  while Nadroga struggled to get a decent advantage to have a chance at scoring.

A few slip ups from Labasa gave Nadroga a few chances to score but accuracy proved a real problem as the first half remained scoreless.

Half time: Labasa 0-0 Nadroga

Labasa’s Sahayam kicked off the second spell with a beautiful free kick from outside the box going straight into the back of the net to give Labasa the lead, 1-0.

Jeshal Kumar came through for Nadroga with an equaliser from a penalty kick, 1-1. Labasa had a second wind of energy as they were looking for a convincing win but Nadroga held their ground.

Big play

Both goalkeepers did well throughout the game.

Star turn

Sahayam’s successful free kick put Labasa into the semifinals.
