The Kadavu Provincial Council has passed a  Five Year Soli (Levy) Plan.

That means every member of Kadavu Province from 21 years to 60 years old will be required to give $100 this year.

Roko Tui Kadavu, Eroni Vunisa gave the details at the end of the provincial meeting in Suva on Thursday.

Of the $100, $15 goes to the provincial rates for next year and $85 for investment.

But for next four years the levy will decrease to $50 per head. $15 goes to the provincial rates and $35 for investment.

Mr Vunisa said: “At the end of five years we will stop the soli plan and the dividends that comes from it will cater for the administration and logistics and whatever the provincial council wants.

“The provincial council has big plans for the development of the Island with an estimated target of $3 to $5 million investment by 2020.

“My long term plan as the Roko Tui is that in the next six to 10 years  all the villages will be getting the dividends as well for development purposes.”
