Letter Of The Week Winner

Kumar’s humours yet thought-provoking piece
Your regular writer, Arien Vikash Kumar’s letter of a humourous yet thought-provoking conversation with a beggar on the streets one day, is our letter of the month.
Mr Kumar’s winning letter was ‘Beggars allowances’.
“While I was walking through town during lunch, I saw a beggar,” he said.
“Usually they don’t reveal what they go through but that day, he spoke his grieving heart out,” Mr Kumar said.
And that’s what inspired him to write this winning letter.
Mr Kumar says writing about current affairs issues to the Fiji Sun guarantees visibility.
By this he believes, that Fijians read the newspaper content more and therefore whatever he writes are read by many and issues are made aware.
“I voice the society’s issues in the Fiji Sun because it has more readership than any other newspaper.
“Moreover, the manner in which this paper recognises our efforts to write and deliver messages is great.
“I always write letters in regards to existing issues. These are real issues faced by our people. So I will continue to write as my eyes catch issues which need to be brought to light.”
Mr Kumar added that Fiji Sun was his father’s favourite newspaper and he would continue his legacy through his letters.
He won a Micromax smartphone from Courts (Fiji) Limited.
