Man Faces Alleged Murder Charge
A 33-year-old man appeared at the Suva Magistrates Court yesterday charged with murder.
Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne transferred the matter to the Suva High Court as it was an indictable offence.
It is alleged that on October 2 at Nabua, in Suva, Josefa Vakanawakoro recklessly engaged himself in a conduct of punching Alisi Tuva Sauvakaviti Rokoratu which caused her death.
Police prosecutor Inspector Suliano Saunitoga objected to bail on the grounds that Vakanawakoro had other matters in another Magistrates court.
Vakanawakoro told the court that he wanted bail and that he wanted his matter to stay in the Magistrates court.
The accused told the court that he wanted to tell the court the truth about what had happened and that it was an accident.
The case has been adjourned to October 21 for first call.
