Tactical Change Lifts Nadi Muslim

A tactical move by Nadi Muslim College (NMC) coach Nadeem Mohammed did wonders as they romped to a 4-0 win over Bulileka College at Buckhurst Park, Suva yesterday.
Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Mohammed said after being held scoreless in the first half he decided to push one of his centrebacks to the front.
“I had two centrebacks in the first half but then I moved Zainal Ali forward to become our third striker,” he said.
“I think the opposition was not anticipating that and were caught by surprise as the goals started going in.”
The young Ali brought fond memories of local football greats of Abdul Mannan, Josaia Tubuna, Jim Okete and Peter Dean who were renowned for scoring goals from 40 yards out.
Ali’s bullet like shots resulted in NMC’s opening goal as the floodgates opened.
“Zainal is a utility player. He can play at the back and also in front. He is only 17 and a very talented player.”
When approached BC head coach Ranjan Sharma said he was not happy with the referee.
“The control by the referee was poor with calls being made especially dishing out of cards to the players who are students. That really affected our performance,” Sharma said.
“I ask Fiji Football if they could bring top referees to control some of our matches and not those that are still under training. We spend a lot of money to get here and to face such situation is not fair indeed.”
Mohammed said he also agreed with Sharma’s call as he felt that match officials should also try to lift up their game.
