Fiji Day Brings People Together: Koroilavesau

Minister for Fisheries Semi Koroilavesau says the Fiji Day celebrations bring people together with one identity.
“This has been the land of our forefathers but now we are sharing it equally with all those who call this their home. They are all Fijians,” Mr Koroilavesau said.
Mr Koroilavesau was speaking yesterday to students, teachers, families and stakeholders at the Nadi Special School Fiji Day celebration.
“All across the nation, Fijians are coming together to remember our proud history and strengthen the bond between people,” Mr Koroilavesau said.
“Festivities like this are taking place all around Fiji, our banner of noble blue is being waved all over the country as we celebrate 46 years that Fiji has stood as an independent nation, for the six years that we have been responsible for forging our own destiny in our world.”
He said the theme for this year’s Fiji Day celebration, ‘Moving of Fijians in Unity’ was the same motto that drove Fiji’s progress since the Bainimarama Government came into power.
“It is based on the belief that we are stronger when we work together, and when we find ways to involve all our people in our economic progress and advancement,” he said.
“We are strongest when we celebrate our shared identity as Fijians equal under the law and equally committed in moving our nation forward.”
Mr Koroilavesau also visited the Nadi Hospital Children’s Ward, Treasure Home and Loloma Home children in the Jetset Town.
Mr Koroilavesau was accompanied by Members of Parliament, Mohammed Dean and Samuela Vunivalu.
