People of all walks of life marched through Levuka Town to celebrate Fiji Day.
It started with the the re-enactment of the signing of the Deed of Cession at Nasova and a march through the town to Nasau Park.
The Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts Mahendra Reddy was the chief guest at the celebrations.
This year marks 46 years of our independence. The Deed of Cession was originally signed in the old capital on October 10, 1874.
