Wairiki Students Welcome Minister

The students and staff of Wairiki Primary School dressed in Bula outfits welcomed the Minister of Youth and Sports Laisenia Tuitubou for the Fiji Day celebrations.
The school in a statement said they wanted to accord Mr Tuitubou with a welcome similar to that given to Ben Ryan, the former Fiji Seven’s coach after the Rio Olympics Games in August.
Officiating at the event Mr Tuitubou urged the students to use the Olympic Gold medal win as an inspiration to strive for the best, with the knowledge that nothing is impossible.
“The win ought to encourage those with a sporting dream or any other dream that if you are committed then nothing can stop you from achieving in life,” Mr Tuitubou said.
Brighter future
“The Fiji Day celebrations should not only be a time to reflect on our 46 years of history, as an independent nation but also envisioning for a brighter future that beckons now.
“This has only been made possible for people who have called Fiji, Home.
The song “Au qito, Au lasa” (I play and I enjoy) echoed through Wairiki Primary school as students gathered to celebrate Fiji’s 46th year as a sovereign nation on Friday.
Located in the province of Cakaudrove with a distance of close to 20 kilometres from Labasa Town, the school accommodates 53 students from two villages.
