Reddy Tells Of World Cup Preparations

The Vodafone national football side are likely to play matches against Asian and American national teams in their preparation for the 2018 FIFA World Cup playoff.

Fiji Football Association acting president, Tarunesh Reddy said, they are hoping to play international friendly matches in November and February as part of their build-up.

“The national side will play New Zealand and New Caledonia on a home and away basis for the World Cup playoff and we are looking at playing some international friendly matches during the FIFA international friendly window to prepare our players well,” Reddy said.

“So far we have received feedbacks from Malaysia, Singapore and Philippines but nothing has been confirmed as our FIFA agent is still working on it. We are serious about our national side going into this crucial playoff to qualify for the World Cup.

“The players will be monitored regularly and we will be holding monthly training programme in lead up to the playoffs,” Reddy said.

The national side play the New Zealand All Whites on March 25, next year at Churchill Park in Lautoka and on March 28 on their away game in Wellington. In May, they take on New Caledonia on a home and away basis.
