Ex Fijian resident who is only known as Sunita sent $102.5 (US$50) to Ms Nateikuru through Western Union to assist with the expenses.

A former Fijian resident now living in the United States felt the pain of the parents whose daughter was killed in a bus accident in Lautoka last week.

Keleto Qereqeretabua and Joana Nateikuru were on their way to bury the body of their daughter, Asenaca Nakase Vesinawailagi, when they were informed of the contribution by the Fiji Sun team in Ba.

Little Asenaca’s body was laid to rest last Friday at her mother’s maternal village of Nasole in Ba following a mass.

The story of their daughter’s tragic accident was read on Fiji Sun’s Online website by a woman, only known by Sunita in the United States.

She sent $102.5 (US$50) to Ms Nateikuru through Western Union to assist with the funeral expenses.

Ms Sunita sent the Western Union tracking number to the Fiji Sun and asked if the newspaper could assist in the family receiving the money.

“Could you please be kind enough to notify the family regarding this donation?”

“It is not much but hope this may help towards Asenaca’s funeral service.”

“See if you can provide me with their Cell phone number,” the woman said in her note.

The family, with the little coffin placed on the seat of a mini bus, the same transport they use every Sunday to travel to mass at the Catholic Church in Lautoka, was spotted at Namosau in Ba.

The couple was speechless to find out how someone from the US could be helping them when the Fiji Sun provided the tracking number to Ms Nateikuru.

“Please tell Sunita we are so thankful to her for what she has done and we will never forget this,” Ms Nateikuru said.
