ANZ Bank Launches Security & Fraud Awareness Week

ANZ has launched Security & Fraud Awareness Week in Fiji in an effort to raise awareness and understanding among staff on the importance of safeguarding the bank and customers against fraud.
Director of the Fiji Financial Intelligence Unit of the Reserve Bank of Fiji, Razim Buksh, was the guest speaker at the launch of ANZ Security & Fraud Awareness Week held at ANZ House, Suva, yesterday.
“As custodians of your customers’ money, staff are the face of the bank and entrusted with great responsibility to safeguard their interests,” said Mr Buksh.
“Please do as much as possible to raise awareness among yourselves, and among your customers, to keep personal bank account details safe from the increased risk of fraud that we’re not only experiencing here in Fiji, but across the world as fraud becomes increasingly sophisticated.”
ANZ Fiji Acting CEO, Saud Minam, said: “As a bank that’s fully committed to our valuable customers and to Fiji, we have a moral obligation to continuously educate ourselves on ways of safeguarding our customers and our business against fraudulent activities.”
Mr Minam added: “Awareness starts with us, and now that customers are increasingly doing their everyday banking online, everyone needs to be particularly diligent about the way we handle personal information online, including personal computers, laptops, mobile phones and tablets.”
ANZ staff will this week hold awareness workshops and internal competitions aimed at raising awareness on threats and precautions to safeguard against cybercrime, email phishing and credit/debit card fraud, among others.
