The Fiji Rugby Union has confirmed that 30 applications were received for the two national sevens coaching positions.

There were 13 applicants received for the national men’s head coach position and 17 applicants for the head coach for women’s rugby position. Applications were received from both local and overseas aspirants.

In a statement from Rugby House: “The Fiji Rugby Union wishes to confirm that it has commenced the process of selecting our new National Men’s Head Coach and likewise our Head Coach for Women’s Rugby.

“Most of the applicants had requested that their applications be treated with strict confidentiality and the Board respects the wishes of the applicants.

“In view of the above and in respecting the request of the applicants and not to compromise the selection process, the Board will proceed with the recruitment process including short listing and conducting of interviews and will make announcements on the appointments after successful negotiations with the successful applicants.

The FRU seeks the understanding of the media and likewise all our supporters.”
