Church Mark 181 Years

The Centenary Church in Suva yesterday marked 181 years since the of Wesleyan Missionaries arrived.
The Bible was the most dominant influence in Methodist thought and the Wesleyan revivals did much to restore the Bible to its former prominence.
Reverend John Wesley founded Methodism. Wesley’s Bible exposition is characterised by the dominance of the practical over theoretical.
His sermons do not dwell upon problems of interpretation.
The early Methodists were concerned with the Bibles devotional and moral values and spent little time on contemplations. Reverend Wesley was ever obedient to spiritual knowledge or enlightenment.
He believed that obedience to the known will of God must precede and accompany any mastery of the Bible.
People from Tubou, Lakeba, in Lau rushed down to the Church from Studio 6 Apartments where the Lau Provincial Meeting was taking place to join hands in the Thanksgiving Service.
Led by Reverend Apete Toko, the Church sung out their praises and prayers in rejoices. He shared a short scripture from the book of John, saying in God was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Reverend Tevita Nawadra concluded the service with a word of prayer and gratitude.
