A delegation led by the Speaker of Parliament Dr Jiko Luveni was welcomed on Tuesday in Moscow by Rafail N Zinurov, a member of the International Committee of the Federation Council.

Zinurov assured the Fijian delegation that their three-day visit would produce many good results.

The visit is part of an ongoing bilateral discussions in terms of capacity building and assistance with various ministries and departments of the Federation of Russia.

It included a signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Federation Council and the Parliament of the Republic of Fiji yesterday.

The delegation will also meet with top officials of the Ministry of the Russian Federation for Civil Defence, Emergencies and Elimination of Consequences of Natural Disasters.

The delegation consists of the Minister of Agriculture Inia Seruiratu, Opposition Member of Parliament Jiosefa Dulakiverata, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Robin Nair, Fiji’s Ambassador to Japan Ambassador Isikeli Mataitoga, FEO Director Operations Anaseini Senimoli and a secretariat staff member.
