FNPF: Informal Sector Not Forgotten

There is a need to have more awareness on getting those in the informal sector to join the Fiji National Provident Fund as members.
Standing Committee on Social Affairs chairman Viam Pillay highlighted this while receiving submissions from FNPF on their 2015 Annual Report at Parliament yesterday. The informal sector is the part of an economy that is neither taxed, nor monitored by any form of government
“Throughout the country, there are many in the informal sector who would also like to join the scheme and they need more information on this,” Mr Pillay said.
FNPF chief operating officer Jaoji Koroi said the Fund had a Voluntary Scheme for members who were not in normal full time employment could join FNPF as voluntary members.
Mr Koroi said the requirements and benefits were the same for voluntary members compared to compulsory members.
