Home Prep For 7s

Vodafone Fijian 7s captain Osea Kolinisau says there is no better place to prepare for the World Sevens Series than to do it at home.
Kolinisau believes the Oceania Sevens Rugby Championship which would be played at the ANZ Stadium on November 11-12 would also be a great chance for fans to watch their favourite players.
“This is a really good build-up and prep for the 2016-17 World Sevens Series especially after the Rio Olympics,”Kolinisau said.
“And there’s no better build-up than to play at home and to see how well you perform before you leave the country.
“This would be a good chance for the fans, who could not make it to the Olympics, to watch their players in action at home.
“This would also be a good build-up for players who are trying to book a spot for the World Sevens Series in Dubai on December 2-3.
“The competition will be tough with Australia, Cook Islands, Samoa and Tonga taking part so it will be a good test.”
Kolinisau wishes to represent the country once again while awaiting conformation regarding continuing his studies overseas.
“Negations are still going on and I see no harm in me joining the team rather than doing nothing. So while waiting, I’d rather get back into shape and try to get back in the team,” he said.
FIJIANA IN CAMP
The Telecom Fijiana 7s squad marched into camp on Tuesday to prepare for the Oceania Rugby Sevens Championship.
Team captain Ana Roqica said the camp has been quite useful as they get more time to learn and improve.
“We will be facing our Pacific Island sisters, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Australia, Cook Islands and Solomon Islands,”Roqica said.
“They will be preparing for this tournament and we will do our best to beat Olympic champions, Australia. We’ve been training hard and I know our girls will be ready because we will be playing at home and fans will be definitely be there to watch us.
“Preparation has been tough because there are 16 players in camp. I know the 12 players selected will do their best.”
