One of the most debated topics amongst any local forum has been the women on corporate boards.

We have had a number of women in top executive positions pushing for this.

This year at the Top Executives (TOPEX) Conference, delegates will hear Valerie Mosley, Head of Women Business Leadership Programme with the Asian Development Bank talk on this.

The conference gets underway today at the Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa on Denarau Island.

Ms Mosley will be speaking today on the theme: “Women on Corporate Board”.

Of course she is no stranger to Fiji and the corporate world here as she has been conducting a programme for senior women corporate leaders here.

Experience and background

Ms Mosley has significant international business experience having worked in North America, Asia, Europe and Australia for a number of blue chip companies.

This has been in a variety of sectors including financial services, information technology, and management consulting.

She started her business career in North America after earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Education from the University of Houston.

After many years in sales with IBM, she successfully established her own business consulting company in Houston before moving to New York to take up a position in IT with Pan Am and, subsequently, financial services with Merrill Lynch.

Ms Mosley is currently facilitating a Women’s Business Leadership Program for the ADB Private Sector Development Initiative.

This is with the aim to increase the potential for women to participate in senior levels of the private sector.

The programme was successfully launched in Tonga in 2015 and is currently being replicated in Fiji.

Additionally, Ms Mosley is actively involved as Chairperson of the Board for Women’s Housing Ltd., a non-profit group that provides housing for women at risk.

Her previous roles include General Manager, International Consulting Group.

For KPMG Australia, she built a multi-million dollar consulting practice that provided enterprise resource planning solutions for major Australian corporations.
