Timoci Vunica and Vitalina Naikore won the sportsman/sportwoman awards during the Holy Family Secondary School annual prize-giving in Labasa yesterday.

Naikore, 16, wants to be like her uncle, national rugby sevens rep Savenaca Rawaca.

“I want to join the Fijiana sevens team in future and be like my uncle in representing my country in sevens rugby,” Naikore said.

“I want to travel around the world playing rugby.”

She is a Year Nine student, originally from Nadivakarua Village, Kubulau, Bua.

Meanwhile, Vunica, 19, of Banikea Village in Lekutu, Bua hopes to become like Waisale Serevi in future.

“Serevi is the player/coach I admire and made Fiji proud,” Vunica said.

“I want to be like Serevi and that is why I played rugby at 15 for Service in Labasa.”
