Fiji Rugby Union’s president, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, and the Australian Rugby Union chief executive officer Bill Pulver  yesterday announced that from 2017 a Fijian team will play in the Australian National Rugby Championship. The announcement was made at the ARU headquarters in Sydney, Australia. Mr Pulver said they were excited to welcome a Fijian team in the NRC and hoped this would provide a pathway for Fijian rugby players to remain in Fiji and play professionally.

Present also at the event was Sydney Rams player and Rugby 7s Olympics Gold medallist Vatemo Ravouvou, who presented a jersey from his club to Mr Bainimarama. The Prime Minister also officiated at the opening of the Fiji Trade and Investment Symposium in Sydney.
