Another daring daylight burglary was caught on CCTV cameras.

This time at a residence in Lautoka on Saturday morning.

The house burgled belongs to the Miller family at Thompson Crescent in Lautoka and it was captured on video.

Lance Miller said the entire family were out at work when the burglary took place at around 10.15am.

The video was posted on the Facebook page of the company, X Tech, which had installed the CCTV cameras. This is the same company that had installed cameras at a shop in Kashmir, Lautoka, which captured a carjacking incident a month ago.

“It is amazing as this was done in broad daylight and our home is directly opposite the Lautoka Hospital,” Mr Miller said.

He confirmed a laptop and other small items, with a total value of around $800, were stolen.

Mr Miller said they had just installed the $3000 state-of-the-art CCTV system.

“The good part about this system is that its pictures are high definition and the thief will be easily identified by the police.”

Mr Miller said the suspect gained entry by removing a burglar grill by the front window.

“The grill is bolted and he ripped it off with his bare hands,” he said.

Mr Miller said his dog, shown on the video, was a pet and when people were inside his compound it would not harm them.

“If you were on the outside of the fence he would bark at you,” he said.

“The good thing is he (the suspect) did not get away with much.”
