Nubaisha Dean danced with excitement after she was announced as the first Miss Vodafone Hidden Paradise Savusavu Queen on Saturday Night.

“I did not see it coming and I was shocked when they announced my name as the winner. It felt so amazing,” said the 27-year-old medical student.

“All the other contestants were really good and it has been a great experience being a part of this carnival with them.”

Born in Lautoka and raised in Suva, Ms Dean says she is thrilled to be the first ever representative of the Northern tourist town in the upcoming Miss Fiji Pageant.

“I have just been here in Savusavu for four months as a part of my practicum at the Savusavu Hospital and I have fallen in love with this place,” Ms Dean said.

“I had a bit of my education in Australia and I am back here for my medical studies because deep down I have Fiji in my heart.

“We were given a week to prepare for this carnival and now I look forward to the Miss Fiji Pageant next month.”

She said that with God anything was possible.

“The Almighty has always been my source of strength and I will also rely on him for the journey that is set ahead of me.”

Ms Dean, who represented the Public Service Commission, also won for Best Traditional Wear and Best Interview.

Miss Copra Shed Shafrin Khan scooped the Best Sarong Wear, Best Talent, Miss Ambassadorial Savusavu, Miss Charity and was named First Runner Up.

Miss Savusavu Town Council Josephine Seli was the second runner up.

Miss Savusavu Tourism Association Lusia Sokoiwasa received a shield for having the best float, while the first runner up to this award was Miss Savusavu Tikina Marica Tinanitabua.
