International Boxing Organisation (IBO) newly crowned world super middleweight champion Renold Vatubua Quinlan is planning to take a one-week break in Fiji.

Speaking to SUNsports from Sydney, Australia, yesterday Quinlan said he was looking forward to meet up with his family members and friends.

“It’s probably the best way to relax after a big fight,” Quinlan whose mum hails from Viwa, Bau in Tailevu said.

Quinlan indicated that of now, they are looking at fighting the World Boxing Association (WBA) world super middleweight champion Felix Sturm.

“He’s next on the list but we are hoping to finalise everything about the fight in December.”

Quinlan said he is grateful to the Lord Jesus Christ for his second round win over former world champion, Daniel Geale, last Friday night.

“They’ve always underestimated me but I was confident and even I told my handlers to write 7 on my bandages as to indicate that the fight was not going to go past the seventh round. I thank the Lord for giving me the strength to do the job and as of now I also wish Daniel Geale the best for his future.”

Quinlan’s uncle cum trainer Lepani Wilson said they have again proved critics wrong.

“First we had wanted to go for a WBA world title fight but the WBA president advised us to beat Geale first and then we are in for the big one. I’m glad we took heed of that advice,” Wilson said.

Quinlan, with only 12 professional fights to his name, finished off the former world champion with a devastating left-right combination 70 seconds in round two, quicker than Gennady Golovkin and Miguel Cotto managed in their recent victories over Geale.
