Twelve participating zones will be competing in the Northern Division’s Primary Schools Athletics Chow Games at Subrail Park, Labasa from November 15-16.

This was confirmed yesterday by Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Association secretary Patrick Bower.

Bower said the participating zones are Macuata North, Labasa 1, Labasa 2, Seaqaqa, Dreketi, Bua 1, Bua 2, Bua 3, Cakau East, Wailevu, Buca Bay and Taveuni.

“Medals will be awarded to the winners and trophies to the winning grades in the male and female categories,” Bower said.

“FMF Chow is the main sponsor and has given a financial support of $10,000, t-shirts for officials and marquees.”

Most of the zones will be having their zonal meet this week to select their athletes for the Northern Chow Games.”

Bower said the closing date for entries to the Northern Games would be next week.

“The best part would be that the electronic timing and photo finish will be used for the first time in the Northern Chow Games. We are expecting a big crowd as teachers, students and parents will come out in numbers to support their athletes.”
