The Valesasa Transport Company Limited has made another submission to the Permanent Secretary, Infrastructure and Transport last two weeks to re-look at the shipping franchise fares to Kadavu.

Company manager Mr Ilaitia Caginavanua confirmed they had made their submission and was waiting for the reply.

He said they would go with the decision made by the Commission.

Mr Caginavaua said that only Kadavu had two sets of fares, $43 for the western side and $34 for the eastern side of the island.

The whole province of Lomaiviti he said had only one fare $67,  and Yasayasa Moala comprising Moala Totoya and Matuku had only one fare of $98. He said they had been in operation for more than three years in Kadavu with $65 before the new fare was put in place.

Mr Caginavanua said they had an agreement with the bank on their loan repayment and now they were facing difficulty in their repayment.

The vessel MV Uluinabukelevu I is owned by the Tikina of Nabukelevu and it serves all the villages in the district.

Fiji Sun has sent queries to the ministry but there no reply was made when this article went to print yesterday.
