People must never ignore the changes in their body because it could be a deadly disease growing, a cancer survivor, Susana Daurewa says.

Speaking during the Pinktober morning tea hosted at the University of the South Pacific, Lautoka campus, Ms Daurewa said after a self-diagnosis she noticed changes in her breast.

“People should not be ignorant, I survived because I was not. I self-diagnosed myself seven years ago and then I went to the hospital to confirm the lump on my breast,” Ms Daurewa said.

She added that it was only through an awareness programme which Ms Daurewa had attended, taught her about self-diagnosis and she was grateful for that.

The morning tea was joined by other breast cancer survivors from the Western Division who shared their testimonies of surviving the deadly disease and they gave collective advice to the youths.

TFL Pinktober morning tea

Telecom Fiji Limited (TFL) donated more than $3000 to the Fiji Cancer Society yesterday.

This was to support its effort in recognising the month of October as the National Breast Cancer Awareness month. They organised the Pinktober morning tea yesterday.

TFL chief executive officer Mothilal De Silva said: “The staff and members of the TFL engaged in a fundraising drive with proceedings dedicated directly to the Fiji Cancer Society.”

The Telecom Fijiana team were also part of the Pinktober morning tea. The Fiji Cancer Society was thankful to TFL for their contributions.
