Lesi Navuwai will lead the charge for the Beachouse Club at the Stand Up Paddle Fiji trials at Wailoaloa in Nadi this weekend.

The Vunaniu, Serua native finished second behind  Bruce Climo during the Musket Cove Fiji Regatta Namotu Island to Cloudbreak race last month.

The top paddlers will represent Fiji at the 2016 Fiji ISA Stand-Up Paddle (SUP) and Paddleboard World Championship which will take place at Cloudbreak on November 12-20.

Other top contenders are Eroni Fotofili, Nick Swiss, Jimmy Tuitavuki, Paul Chong, Sanaila Kaikai and Apisai Kamaro.

“The boys have been undergoing coaching, few time trials, with body conditioning, strengthening and surfing,” said Climo.

“All the boys have being pretty close during the time trials and a good competition is expected this weekend.”

He said there is not so SUP clubs in Fiji with mostly a few individuals scattered around that unite for contests.

The Fiji team trials are scheduled on Saturday, 4pm at Wailoaloa for the five kilometres race and 18 km race on Sunday morning at 8am.
