Interesting Weekend Of Motor Sports

Hello fellow car enthusiasts. It was an interesting weekend we had. It was not as exciting as we expected it to be but the enthusiasm was very much there.

We had our defending champion Ravi Nair unable to race due to some mechanical issues with his car. And so there was not much competition for Ravi Nath.

But at the end of the day – a win is a win – whether it is a mile or an inch and Mr Nath took the overall winner trophy once again.

It was a day of excitement as a few of the regulars did their personal best timing. Amal Singh did 11.99 seconds. On behalf of all the Fiji Car Club executives and members, I would like to welcome Amal into the 11 seconds club.

Another person who achieved his personal best was Aiyum Ali – his personal best timing of 12.596 seconds. I would also like to welcome him to the 12 seconds club.

A few of the other regulars did very well as well. Vicky Nath – even though he had a few issues with his car, did 11.55 seconds.

Even though this is not his personal best, but he managed to come out second best overall.

In the drag wars, Sanjesh Dutt, did excellent driving on the day and won his 14.5 seconds category. He is one of the best gear changers as far as motor sports is concerned in Fiji.

He has one of the best techniques of gear changing. I urge the young racers to get some tuition from Sanjesh.

I was very pleased to see there were 10 new car racers which entered on the day. It shows the development taking place and it is taking its effect now.

We have two more races before the end of the year and I request more of the new race car drivers to come out and give racing a shot.

Next race

The next Pacific Energy Shell Lubricants Drags will be held on November 6.

This will be the fourth series out of the five sponsored race.

At the moment, Ravin Nath is leading the series with two wins. Ravi Nair has one win.

I would like to see more veteran racers like Tauz Khan and Lawrence Ah Sam participate in the remaining two races in the series.
