Lautoka, Ba Clash In Semis
The Lautoka Under-14 team will play Ba in the second quarterfinal of the Vodafone Fiji Primary Schools Inter-District Championship (IDC) at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori today.
Lautoka sealed their quarterfinal spot beating Bua 1-0 in their second last pool game.
The Courts IDC winners are looking to make it a double but coach Naveen Kumar said it will be an uphill battle for them.
“It feels great to have qualified for the quarterfinals and it will be interesting to see what happens,” Kumar said.
“There is a lot of pressure on us to win because we won the Courts IDC title and our fans and those who have been supporting us from the start expects us to win again in this tournament.
“But I know and I have told my boys that it will not be easy because most of the teams are trying to beat us.”
Last year, the team reached the semi-finals but bowed out to Labasa.
“We want to take it a step up from where we finished off last year, we want to make it to the finals and win,” he said.
Lautoka will play Ba in the second quarterfinal match at 8:30am at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori today.
