Striker Senitiki Muisova’s goal in extra time helped Suva beat Rewa 1-0 and win the Vodafone Fiji Primary Schools Inter District Championship (IDC) title for the first time at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori yesterday.

The 14-year-old beat the last Rewa defender to score with just one minute of play in extra time.

“When I saw that it was between me and the goalkeeper, I knew I need to get it right,” Muisova said.

“I knew this was our last chance otherwise the game would have gone into shootout and we did not want that.

“I felt so happy and relieved and even though I got yellow carded for taking my shirt off and celebrating, it was worth it.”

“It was not an individual effort but a team effort,” said Muisova who thanked all his teammates.

“I feel really good to have scored the winning goal.

“It was a team goal and a team effort, the boys have a been a joy to play with and we have built good friendship and learnt a lot from each other so I want to thank them for their hard work.”

Suva coach Adrian Kumar said it was the team spirit that helped them win the tournament.

“I was really pleased to see how they performed against Rewa.

“They displayed good football and I think the best part of the game was their team spirit that’s how they won the trophy today.

“A lot of people do not come to watch the primary schools IDC but this is where the future stars of Suva and the sport in general are made from.

“From where I stand, if these boys are developed further we could be seeing them in the national league games in the future.”

Suva’s Javis Ronnie won the Golden Boot award for his five goals in the tournament.
