The Fijian volleyball captains contributed for a good cause before taking part in the first round of the Oceania Volleyball World Cup qualifiers which starts at the Vodafone Arena, Suva tomorrow.

Jope Tokalauvere (Fiji Blue), Fiji Black Pita Ratukana (Fiji Black) and Makiti Raratabu (Fiji White) were among members of the Kinoya Volleyball Association who cleaned up the Father Law Home in Lami yesterday.

“This is another step up to our preparation and we are thankful to our team management for releasing us to help the senior citizens of our community.

“This is the first time for me to come out from my Kinoya community to help a different community,” Tokalauvere said.

The Taci, Noco, Rewa native was grateful to be involved in a worthy cause.

“We clean their compound, their rooms and to see them smiling is most rewarding for us,” he added.

Nacomoto, Naceva, Kadavu native  Ratukana acknowledges God for giving them the opportunity to reach out to the elderly.

“We are all from the Kinoya community and I want to thank God for giving us this chance.

“We are also setting good examples to  our younger brothers in Kinoya,”Ratukana said.

Raratabu believes unity is what will take Fiji through during the World Cup qualifier.

“I feel great after visiting these seniors citizens and I want to thank my youth group from Kinoya for coming in as one family and doing this together,” Raratabu said.

Not only did the youth group cleaned up at Father Law home but they also donated a washing machine.

“We started from our community in Kinoya before reaching out to other communities and our next target would be the widowed families,” organiser Rosa Dalituicama said.
