One hundred competitors and crew are in Nadi to begin the five-day Accor Hotels Fiji Race to Survive event.

The idea is to raise more than $500,000 for Cure Kids Fiji.

Following on from successful events in the past, which have raised more than $1.8million, Accor Hotels and their charity partner Cure Kids are proud to announce that this year’s event would be bigger than ever.

With the race starting today at the Novotel Nadi, 100 competitors and crew from Accor Hotels in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji are excited about the five-day event.

Senior vice president for Accor Hotels New Zealand, Fiji & French Polynesia, Chris Sedgwick, said: “We are incredibly proud to once again be holding this charity event in Fiji.

“With our goal to raise $500,000 from this event, we will increase our overall fundraising for Cure Kids Fiji to almost 2 million dollars. This is essential for them to continue the amazing work they do here in Fiji”.

Cure Kids chief executive Frances Benge said: “Without the support of        Accor Hotels we would not be able to continue the work we do in Fiji.

“Events like this cannot be achieved without the incredible support from so many companies here in Fiji who supports Accor Hotels and we thank each and every one of them.”

Accor Hotels staff members from Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa, Novotel Nadi, Novotel Suva Lami Bay and Mercure Nadi will lead the international competitors with their local knowledge and are given the responsibility to showcase all that Fiji has to offer.

They will be joined by representatives from local Fiji Event Sponsor teams from Awesome Adventures Fiji, Digicel, Piazza Doro, Rosie Holidays, Star Printery and UB Freight.

Over the next five days the Accor Hotels Fiji Race to Survive will travel around Fiji. Along the way, the competitors will compete in a number of challenges that includes running, swimming and kayaking.

In addition to this they will also give back to the community through a number of initiatives. Projects such as installing water tanks in Kese Village on Naviti Island in Yasawa.
