The Team Fiji men’s side took out the inaugural Fiji Airways Triples bowls at the Nadi Sports and Social Club yesterday. The team consisted of Arun Kumar, Semesa Naiseruvatu and Rajnesh Prasad proved too strong for Team Fiji II 22-9 in a free spirit match. The Team Fiji II had the services of Samuela Tui, Curtis Mar and Kushal Pillay.

In the first semi-final Team Fiji Mens beat Fiji Airways (Bobby Prasad, David Aitcheson and Dan Vinod) 17-15 while Team Fiji Mens beat Kombat (Munesh Kumar, Shorab Khan, Keegan Jaduram) 20-8.

Tournament coordinator Sanjeet Sen said the competition level has gone up.

“Overall, it was competitive as this was another tournament to prepare the national team for the world bowls and likewise we handed over $1000 to assist in their preparations,” he said.

In the Plate final, Fiji Womens I (Litia Tikoisuva, Sheral Mar and Elizabeth Moceiwai) beat Power Pak 17-15. Nadi Junior’s (Daniel Pillay, Kartik Sen and Jayden Jaduram) lost to Power Pak (Salesh Prasad, Rajneel and Daniel Pillay) 20-15 in the Plate semi-final.

In other matches Lady (Doreen O’Connor, Ili Seru and Maria Patel) lost to the Fiji Women’s side 20-16.

Sen on behalf of the organisers thanked major sponsors, Fiji Airways for backing the event.

“Fiji Airways needs a special thank as they have been behind this sport for some time now,” he said.

“Also thank Raymond Singh of Islands Electric for boosting our junior bowlers which is expected to go a long way.
