Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama closed the Auckland Fijian Community rugby 7s tournament in New Zealand on Saturday

The one-day 7s tournament at Tangaroa College was aimed at bringing together the Fijian diaspora in New Zealand with teams from all over New Zealand competing.

New Zealand Fiji Community president, Nacanieli Yalimaiwai said they are working to put together a team of Fijian players to participate at next year’s Marist 7s tournament.

“The Olympic 7s win has certainly inspired our youths to work harder to make a name for themselves and also earn a living out of playing rugby,” he said.

Bainimarama thanked the organisers for using sports as a vehicle to unite Fijians in New Zealand. DEPTFO News
