The Suva, Tonga and Samoa swimming clubs raised $500 for the Fiji Cancer Society yesterday.

The clubs contributed for a worthy cause in the second day of the Central Regional Long Course Finals at the Damodar City Aquatic Centre in Suva.

Society administrator Belinda Chan acknowledged the clubs for their donation.

“I hope this is just the beginning of our long partnership as we can do good things in raising awareness against cancer.”

Fiji Swimming Eastern Division vice- president/ organiser Viliame Takayawa said the donation was not part of the programme.

“Actually the plan was to buy a cake for each club but on Saturday the clubs agreed to donate the funds  for a good cause.

“Special thanks to Samoa and Tonga for their substantial contribution.”
