President Meets Our Troops In Iraq

President Major-General (Ret’d) Jioji Konrote yesterday visited Fijian troops in Iraq.
Mr Konrote visited the Fijian peacekeeping troops serving under the United Nations Assistance Mission Iraq (UNAMI).
The Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto, is accompanying the President during the visits to the peacekeeping troops.
The visit is a continuation of a long-held tradition where the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Military personally visit the troops to reassure them, and the world, of Fiji’s commitment to contributing to peacekeeping duties as part of our services to humanity.
The President earlier visited the Fijians serving with the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in parts of Lebanon and praised them for their role in our peacekeeping operations.
